Catch the Gold Award Certificate

Catch the Gold Golden Trout Certificate
Catch the Gold Certificate

How do I get a certificate?

All you need to do is register and, of course, catch a Golden Trout.

How do I register?

Call  or stop by the Chamber and get a registration form 0r just click here and print the form. Fill in the registration form and mail it to us along with your payment.

How much does it cost?

$20 which covers our costs.

Then what do I do?

Go out and catch a Golden Trout. Take a picture to verify your catch. Then release your catch.
Bring the picture in or mail or email us a copy to the Line Pine Chamber of Commerce . (We'd like a copy of your catch to put on this website.)

Where do I go to catch this trout?

We suggest the Golden Trout Wilderness area. From Lone Pine, drive west on Whitney Portal Road 3.5 miles to Horseshoe Meadow Road and turn left. Continue 20 miles to the Cottonwood Lakes trailhead (not the nearby Horseshoe Meadow trailhead). The paved road is usually open May through October and provides beautiful scenery on the way up.

There are Golden Trout in many different areas of Inyo County and we will give a Certificate for any Golden Trout no matter where you catch it.

Do I have to catch and release the trout?

Our certificate program is for catch and release. However, there is a five trout limit (barbless hooks) in some of the areas. (Consult the California regulations) You can catch and release for the certificate and then go catch some to eat. (They really are delicious and we have a great recipe. )
